It's because websites have become lazy and thrown in with marketers (instead of their users) who, like the government, like to spy and profile everyone. If web pages embedded non-annoying/intrusive advertising instead of subscribing to ad networks then I likely wouldn't have a problem with that, provided ads weren't taking over the whole screen and detracting from the purpose of the site. I do want to support the websites I frequent and find useful, but I cherish my machines security more. If it wasn't for the security aspect of malicious advertising, I would allow some "non-intrusive advertising" through. I personally don't have a problem letting the marketing and advertising industry know how I feel about their practices. So both have developed business models to take advantage of their large amount of users.
What are ghostery and adblock plus for mac code#
See my blocking list here, it includes Hostman lists also, add yours please!! :)Īd Block Plus and Ghostery are both owned by companies is most certainly true, paying people a living to code is essential to keep them going. Mozilla is for the users, Google is for the spies and marketers. However Firefox is the most user friendly and has the most add-ons of any browser. Google is a advertising company that spies and Chrome contains unknown code that could be communicating via IP addresses which would get past Hostsman domain name blocking.Ĭhrome should be the last program you should be using, open source Chromium or one of it's off shoots without spying extensions if you really like it. Plus there is the security knowing it's 100% open source, meaning users are verifying it's doing what it's supposed to be doing. Chrome spawns 6 other processes regardless if they are being used or not. I have no problem running 19 Firefox Add-ons here, it makes my pages load especially fast and is more productive as I get exactly what I need every time and less of what I don't need.įirefox has a much smaller memory footprint that Chrome, just open both and look in Task Manager to see for yourself. Chrome contains proprietary code which people have no idea what it's doing. It's because Chrome is a bloated pig and being turned into a platform to do as much as possible to spy as much as possible. Ever tried Chrome with 15+ extensions? - A nightmare I can tell you. And introduce a lot of bugs/glitches along with it. Lastly, this powerful extension speeds up pages and improves overall page performance.Tend to move away from browser extensions as they only cause more delay/issues on the browser's overall speed/performance.
